DS QIRAT COMPETITION 2018
Dubai Scholars hosted its first ever Inter-School Qirat Competition on 17th November 2018. This auspicious event was organized by the Sixth Form in coordination with the Islamic Department. Sixty participants from six schools were moderated by six esteemed judges based on their recitation of the Holy Quran and Tajweed.
The Qirat Competition was a great platform for contestants to portray their recitation skills and abilities, to understand the significant beauty of the words of the Almighty and their meaning, and to learn from others. This competition also promoted Islamic principles. |
The event began with the opening ceremony followed by the preliminary round which decided the finalists for each of the three categories: sub-junior, junior and senior. The finalists then gave their recitation of their respective surah, which was followed by a speech by a guest speaker who enlightened everyone on the fundamental values of the Quran and some imperative lessons he learnt as he converted to Islam. Lastly, the best two finalists from each category were awarded with a medal and a certificate.
The Prophet [Peace be Upon Him] had said, “The superiority of the speech of Allah compared to all other speech is like the superiority of Allah over His creation.” Therefore, the Quran is undoubtedly an indispensable element of Islam. All the hard work and dedication of the core team of the Qirat Competition truly paid off. Every participant had learned something which would definitely help them improve their Qirat and Tajweed. The Prophet [Peace be Upon Him] had said, “Beautify the Quran with your voices, for sweet voice increases the beauty of the Qur'an.”
